Urgent! ObamaCare!
Posted: March 18th, 2010 | Author: youareb1 | Filed under: Socialized Medicine | 15 Comments »this is serious folks. the New York Times reports that the health care bill vote could be as early as thursday – in 24 hours.
we already know that the big pharma has the U.S. government in it’s pocket. we already know that the FDA is controlled by corporate interests. we already know that conventional medicine has sold out.
with ObamaCare you will get less freedom of choice, fewer alternatives to conventional medicine and more funding to big pharma.
here’s what you can do: go to www.congress.org now and type in your zip code. this will bring you to a page with your congressman (or woman’s) contact info. call the Washington D.C. office and tell the receptionist that you would like to leave a message for your congressman (or woman). explain that you are a constituent and you want him or her to know that you are completely opposed to the health care bill. you can also send faxes and emails! do this now!

I am totally with you. Government has never run any big program effectively. They are spending our money like there is no tomorrow. While we do need some form of health reform – this is the WRONG way.
I haven’t had insurance for over a year and it scares the crap out of me but I still don’t want this monstrosity!!
Forgot my main point… I have called and e-mailed my congressman and my 2 Senators. I got 2 responses back. 1 was from my democratic congresswoman. She replied with a form letter extolling the virtues of the bill and her reasons for her upcoming (apparently) yes vote. She apparently doesn’t really care why I and many, many, many others do not want this bill passed.
I truly believe we, the people, are not being represented by the people elected to do so. I have seen nothing but arrogance in their statements and an attitude that says – “We know what’s best”. The president has the same arrogant, condescending, tone when he speaks and isn’t being truthful about the numbers behind this pile of poop.
I am rather confused why you would object
to a state run health care system which provides free health care to the whole of the US population?
Your current system sucks you only get health
care in the US if you can afford it this means it is available to everyone so they don’t leave you waiting for treatment if you cannot pay.
The US may lead the world in many areas
health care is not one of them, the NHS system in the UK provides for every one
not just the rich, we can opt in to private health care if we wish, the same with education we have a state run system which is free or we have a private system if you wish to pay.
Every one should be entitled to free health care and education it should be the right of any individual not just the rich.

@ phillip jackson
clearly you haven’t read the bill. mandatory vaccinations are not exactly a picture of freedom. a concept which our country is based upon.
Strange indeed. The US is supposedly based on freedom – but is it really? In the UK we are just as “free” as you guys and the NHS is in no way the threat to our “freedom”; similarly “Obamacare” as you so eloquently call it, will not be an infringement on your freedom or even your perception of that freedom.
As Phillip says, we have fabulous healthcare in the UK – it is free for everybody but we can go private if we wish. That, to me, is freedom of choice plus those unfortunate enough NOT to be able to afford healthcare can be treated freely when ill.
I simply don’t see what the problem is – unless it is simply that you do not like Obama, ergo, anything he tries to do.
@phillip jackson…Tell me how you add 30 million new patients, cut one half a trillion dollars from Medicare, and don’t add any new doctors without facing a reduction in services (otherwise known as rationing)?
This fiasco is unconstitutional in many aspects, particularly the mandate of citizens to purchase health care insurance.
If you wish to be a sheep and kindly do what your government tells you to do, then please by all means stay where you are. As for me, I choose liberty.
@Plastic Mancunian
you speak as if you’ve read the bill. what makes you think that this bill is will result in the exact health care system you have and are so fond of in your country? how arrogant of you! i repeat: mandatory vaccinations are just one of many Orwellian stipulations outlined in the bill.
I am also strongly against this bill!
There are many, many people in the UK and Canada completely dissatisfied with their health care system. The point is, that we do not want/need the Government getting involved in our health!
@phillip jackson & @Plastic Mancunian
Currently in the US, everyone DOES receive health care. It is against the law for hospitals to deny emergency services. What they DONT receive is INSURANCE. There is a big difference.
Combining the two issues paints a very grim picture of the USA when it simply is not the case.
@Plastic Mancunian & Mr. Phillip Jackson, It is true what Marc D has said, and youareb1 also. This Obama Healthcare Bill will end life as we know it in America. Actually our government officials, and yes, even the President are NOT the ones in control of this country. It is being controlled by Big Pharma, and Big Banking, and especially the Federal Reserve! Our President, like the one before him, is nothing but a puppet on the string of big corporations and the pharmaceutical industry. The Federal Reserve and Mr. Bernake, and China pretty much own the United States now. We no longer enjoy the freedom that we once had. The Nat’l Debt is quickly becoming unsustainable, and the healthcare bill will cost more than any one of us can afford to pay. But this is not just about healthcare. This bill is riddled with crooked deals and bribery done behind closed doors, and it will, I guarantee you, make the average American citizen totally dependent on government. That is exactly the way they want it. I totally agree with what Marc D. has said here. In my opinion ‘We The People” are no longer being considered at all! Unfortunately there are a good deal of our government officials who have become greedy, power hungry liars and con-artists, and they don’t give a damn about their constituents. This is both in the Republican party and the Democratic party. It is my opinion that “We The People” should get rid of every one of them, and start over with people who are honorable and worthy of our trust, and who will actually represent their constituents as they are supposed to do! I heard on Fox News, (the only news I listen to), that out government has gone nearly 180% AWAY from our constitution. They are changing it to suit themselves. Whether you believe my statements or anyone elses’ doesn’t really matter. You might have great government run healthcare in the UK, and that’s great, I’m glad you do. However, I am 100% sure that it is nothing like our governments idea of Healthcare! As Marc D says, we do desperately need some kind of heathcare reform, but this bill is NOT it!
Sorry Don………I had left you out sir, and did not mean to. You are also correct. I also heard that we might have a shortage of doctors if this healthcare bill goes through. American citizens are NOT the only ones who will NOT like this bill. And you’re right…….it is a fiasco of MAJOR proportions, and very very unconstitutional!!
May be your bill is flawed, but the concept of free health care is not, many European countries have very good state run health
care systems which run along side private health care systems.
I am surprised that people feel it would lead
to a shortage in doctors as exactly the opposite
has happened here. The NHS is the worlds
3rd largest employer, next to the Chinese army and the Chinese railway, it is the biggest employer in the UK and employees
16% of the UK’s working population which
does help unemployment.
We as a country choose to spend most of our budget on health care and education,
the political parties do listen to the voters,
if they did not they would not get into power. I feel we could have more referendums on important issues so the people did get more say in the running of their country but this may come in time.
If the American people want to cut funding
then it should be the defence budget, these are the proposed figures for 2011
Defense-related expenditure ↓ 2011 Budget request & Mandatory spending[1][15] ↓ Calculation[6][16] ↓
DOD spending $721.3 billion Base budget + “Overseas Contingency Operations”
FBI counter-terrorism $2.7 billion At least one-third FBI budget.
International Affairs $10.1–$54.2 billion At minimum, foreign arms sales. At most, entire State budget
Energy Department, defense-related $20.9 billion
Veterans Affairs $66.2 billion
Homeland Security $54.7 billion
NASA, satellites $3.4–$8.5 billion Between 20% and 50% of NASA’s total budget
Veterans pensions $58.4 billion
Other defense-related mandatory spending $7.5 billion
Interest on debt incurred in past wars $57.7–$228.1 billion Between 23% and 91% of total interest
Total Spending $1.003–$1.223 trillion
This total is more than every country in the world added together and represents 25%
of your total spend this is the one to hit.
